Privacy policy

Chat data never leaves your device. Recallframe has no server, no account, no analytics and no ads. The only network request it makes to anyone but the chat site you are already on is the licence check to Lemon Squeezy, and that request contains no chat data.

What this extension is

Recallframe is a Chrome extension that builds a search index of your ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok chats inside your browser, so you can search them in one place, export them to Markdown, JSON or ZIP, and delete or archive them in bulk. It runs entirely in your browser.

Data it reads

On chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com and grok.com only, a content script reads from the page you have open: chat titles and links from the sidebar, and, for a chat you open, the text of its messages and who wrote each one (you or the assistant). It does not read other sites, other tabs, your passwords or payment details. The only cookies it reads are two small values used for delete/archive requests, described under “Where data is sent”. It does not capture attachments or images.

Where data is sent

Chat data: never sent to the developer, to Lemon Squeezy, to analytics, or to any third party. There is no Recallframe server.
Licence check: if you activate Pro, the licence key and the random instance name are sent to Lemon Squeezy (https://api.lemonsqueezy.com/v1/licenses/activate). Once a week the key and instance id are sent to the validate endpoint. Deactivating sends them to deactivate. Nothing from your chats is included. On the Free plan, or until you enter a licence key, no licence request is made.
Delete and archive: only when you confirm it in the side panel, Recallframe makes the same request the site's own page would make, from your open tab, to that same site (for example to chatgpt.com to delete a ChatGPT chat). For ChatGPT it reads your existing session token and the oai-did device cookie from chatgpt.com to authorise that request and sends them only back to chatgpt.com; for Claude it reads the lastActiveOrg cookie (or asks claude.ai for your organisation id) to build the request URL. It does not store any of these and does not send them anywhere else. Archive exists for ChatGPT only.

Permissions, in plain words

Access to the four chat sites: read titles and messages you are already viewing, and send the delete/archive request you confirmed.
Access to api.lemonsqueezy.com: the licence check above.

It does not use the tabs permission, <all_urls>, OAuth, or remotely hosted code. All scripts ship inside the extension.

Your control

Pause indexing at any time in Settings. While paused, nothing is read from the page.
Clear the whole index in Settings (“Clear Recallframe’s local index”).
Delete one chat from Recallframe's index without touching the site, or delete it on the site after a confirmation.
Uninstalling the extension deletes its IndexedDB and storage.

Limits you should know

The index holds only what your browser rendered while the extension was running. Chats you never opened show a title only. If a chat site changes its page layout, indexing for that site can stop working until the extension is updated. Chat text sits unencrypted in your browser profile like other extension data, so anyone with access to your computer account can read it. Recallframe is not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or xAI.

Retention and deletion

Data stays until you clear it or uninstall the extension. Removing the licence deletes the stored key. We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on a server.

Children

Recallframe is not directed at children.
